UK Corporate Games Nottingham 2017 partners with Dame Kelly Holmes Trust
Europe’s largest annual multi sports festival for organisations and business people will be coming to Nottingham from 6th – 9th July 2017.
The Games are set to be a resounding success with many of the UK’s top companies already having entered alongside businesses of all sizes and type from Nottingham and across the East Midlands. However, the Games team have also recently struck up another partnership with charity Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. The Trust has been unveiled as the Official Sporting Ambassador Programme provider at a presentation in Nottingham on 21st February.
Dame Kelly Holmes Trust does amazing work, developing world class athletes beyond sport and then works with them to deliver programmes that transform the lives of young people facing disadvantage.
The Games is an event aimed at competitors of all ages and abilities and both organisations hope the partnership will lead to opportunities and benefits for everyone involved. President and founder of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, Dame Kelly Holmes said “I’m really pleased that the Trust’s world class athlete talent will be present at this year’s UK Corporate Games in Nottingham. Our athletes undergo comprehensive training and development to ensure they continue their high performance beyond sport. I know they’ll be tremendous ambassadors and motivators for the teams taking part and hopefully continue to be involved post-Games to help establish a culture of high performance within each organisations workplace.”

Major employers like Freeths, Asda and Ernst & Young have signed up hundreds of entrants for the Games, but they will be competing against large and small organisations from the locality and across the UK. However it is important to stress that the Games is open to any organisation and every business is welcomed equally.
Participants can choose to enter any one of the 23 sports on offer – from netball to football, running to dragonboat racing and golf to go karting. Many of the sports will be taking place at The University of Nottingham’s new £40m David Ross Sports Village. The Centre houses a huge multi-court sports hall, seven glass squash courts and an international standard Table Tennis hall in addition to impressive accommodation in the surrounding area. The Great Games Party will showcase a different venue as the Nottingham Trent Students Union has been selected to stage this major Games component.
Running in tandem with the Games, Dame Kelly Holmes Trust have a training and development plan on offer to business people as well as opportunities to meet some of the elite athletes to work with your business to develop sporting and business success.
Marie Robson, Employee Engagement Manager at the Trust said: “We have some great packages to motivate, inspire and support the company’s success at the Games. With athletes from a variety of sporting careers, and several who have gone on to achieve coaching and personal training qualifications, we look forward to meeting as many teams ahead of the Games as possible, plus there’s an option for an athlete to join teams and compete, however, not in their career sport of course”.

For those interested in visiting Nottingham and learning more about the plans, there will be a venue tour known as the Team Leader Orientation Event that will visit most of the Games Venues on the afternoon of 7th March.
