Another month is ticked off the calendar this weekend as we venture from July into August. The summer events just keep on coming, with festivals, open days and the chance to shop till you drop across the city and the county. Nottingham Riverside Festival at Victoria Embankment
Victoria Embankment is always a hive of activity around this time of year when the Nottingham Riverside Festival takes over the banks of the River Trent for an entire weekend of food, drink, fireworks and entertainment.
From the 31st July – 2nd August, visitors to the Victoria Embankment can enjoy this annual event which seems to grow in size year on year. Boats will gather on the waters for the weekend as families can enjoy live music, rides and activities for the kids, street theatre, craft stalls, food and drink stalls as well as steam engines and much more. And on Saturday night, marvel at the fabulous firework display as the skies over Nottingham are lit with an array of colour.
Notts County Open Day at Notts County Football Club
The new season is nearly upon us and Notts County Football Club is busy preparing for the new campaign. It’s been a busy pre-season so far and this weekend the club is inviting the public to attend its open day at Meadow Lane to see the players training live on the pitch as well as offering them the opportunity to meet their heroes ahead of the 2015/16 season.
Fans can take part in a photo as part of the club’s ‘The Bench’ initiative as well as take a tour of the ground, enjoy activities and entertainment throughout the day and watch the open training session on the pitch. To find out more about the Open Day, head over to the club’s website.
Late Night Shopping Event at East Midlands Designer Outlet
Never before has the expression ‘shop till you drop’ been more appropriate! This Friday night, you’re invited to stay late at the East Midlands Designer Outlet and shop into the late hours to find a few bits for your summer holidays. From 31st July – 28th August, the outlet will be hosting its late night shopping event every Friday to give you more time to take advantage of great savings on top brands and enjoy some live entertainment while you browse.

Sculpture in the Sanctuary at the Reg Taylor’s Garden Centre
Enjoy artistic works in many forms this weekend and throughout August at Reg Taylor’s Garden Centre as Sculpture in the Sanctuary returns, showcasing sculptures for both inside and outside the home.
With many well known artists bringing their works to the centre, displaying art carved from a variety of materials including wood, marble, bronze and many more. It’s a great event to not only enjoy the pieces, but wander through nine acres of beautiful grounds, incorporating five lakes and wildlife. To find out more, please visit the website.
Stumped at the Trip Beer Festival at Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem
Old rivalries have been resumed in the Ashes already, with the tournament coming to Nottingham this August for the fourth test in the series. To celebrate the return of one of sport’s most iconic rivalries and sporting events, Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem is hosting its very own ‘Stumped at the Trip Beer Festival’ from 31st July – 9th August.
In the words of the team at the Trip, they’re ‘doing what they do best’, offering great locally produced ales from Nottingham Brewery as well as an Australian BBQ and a hog roast during the festival dates.
