Reg Enderby, Editor of the Nottingham Gig Guide talks about promoting local concerts
I began the Nottingham Gig Guide some three years ago as there did not seem to be one specific internet site that covered all genres of music in the city. Now at last it is recognised by local and visiting people alike to be their first port of call to find out where live music is on in town or anywhere in the NG postcode as the guide covers the whole of Nottinghamshire.
Any venue, band or act can register and list their gigs for free with details including gig dates, photographs, biographies, weblinks and contact details. Visitors to the site can pick any day of the week to view what’s on or search further ahead, so it is great for those planning to visit Nottingham as they can choose between major recording stars at the big venues, the local pubs, comedy or even a music festival.
We rely heavily on the community to let us know what is happening and as the word spreads, it is a community that is growing as there are now over 1000 gigs a month to choose from. We are especially keen to help the local pubs, clubs and bars whose advertising budgets are limited and the NGG gives them a free platform to let people know what they have on.
