Cockliffe Country House plans given the green light
Cockliffe Country House Hotel in Nottinghamshire has begun work on an extensive £750,000 refurbishment following planning approval.
Owned by independent hotel group Heritage Estates, the 11-bedroom 17th century former farmhouse in Burntstump Country Park will now undergo an investment scheme, transforming the venue’s bedrooms, restaurant, and wedding and conference facilities.
The full refurbishment programme includes the build of a new 2,400 sq.ft, permanent multi-purpose space, ideal for weddings, which can seat up to 80 guests. There will also be a full refit of the main house, keeping its traditional values, with a modern and contemporary twist.
The designs feature strong wooden beams, exposed stonework and high ceilings, allowing the space to be filled with natural light. The build is expected to be completed in May 2017.
“When we first walked into Cockliffe we could see the fantastic potential of the building. The property is over 400-years old and is a heritage asset to the area so we had to do what was right by the property, rather than just seeing the commercial opportunities,” explained director Jon-Paul Davies.
“We’ve worked hard with Heritage England and Gedling Borough Council planning, who have helped lead us in our decision making process. We’re so pleased to have finally been granted planning permission after a two year process, and to have the investment and strategy in place will be key going forwards.”
Jon-Paul added: “The space will be perfect for people celebrating their wedding day, and I’m sure guests will really enjoy the comfortable ‘country lodge’ inspired environment. We can’t wait to restore this stunning building into something everyone in the local community can be proud of.”
Cockliffe Country House Hotel will also see an internal bar moved, a new bridal suite created and a secondary kitchen installed.
The entire design & build process will be facilitated by CBP architects, and as founding director Keith Clark explains, this is a project they’ve been looking forward to:
“Cockliffe Country House Hotel is a property with such history and prestige we were delighted to be asked to help deliver this project. The building is well renowned in the area and we have to be sensitive to its heritage and traditional feel. We’re really looking forward to seeing the finished build.”
