Cineworld to open an IMAX® in Nottingham

Cineworld, the UK’s leading cinema chain, is delighted to announce that it will be opening an IMAX® at Cineworld Nottingham on 14th December 2012.

The new IMAX at The Cornerhouse site will offer Nottingham film fans a uniquely immersive cinematic experience, allowing them to enjoy the biggest blockbusters, including the latest blockbuster from the Lord of the Rings Director Peter Jackson; The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (UK release date December 14th), like never before. The IMAX Experience® combines patented crystal-clear digital projection, powerful digital sound, a larger, slightly curved and specially treated IMAX screen and customised auditorium geometry designed to maximize audiences’ field-of-view.

“The response from our customers to our recently opened IMAX auditoriums in Ipswich, Birmingham and Enfield has been overwhelmingly positive, and today’s announcement is a direct result of our success to date,” said Crispin Lilly, Vice President of Business Affairs, Cineworld Group PLC. “IMAX is a key differentiator for our multiplexes and we’re delighted to bring the unique, premium, immersive cinematic experience that only IMAX delivers to a wider audience across the UK.”

Katherine Ogden Cineworld Nottingham General Manager comments, “We couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this amazing cinema experience to our customers. We can’t wait to open this screen in style with the highly anticipated Peter Jackson film; The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

IMAX CEO, Richard L. Gelfond added, “Cineworld is an ideal partner for IMAX. Their commitment to state-of-the-art entertainment, top-notch customer service and market growth is a perfect fit with the IMAX®brand.”

Suzanne Green, Centre Manager at The Cornerhouse said, “We’re very excited to have the only cinema in the East Midlands with an IMAX screen. The work to install it is creating a real buzz at the venue and we can’t wait for cinemagoers to come to Cineworld Nottingham and experience it. We believe it will be the perfect place to watch this year’s Christmas blockbusters.”
